I know how to manage my emotions – most of the time. I mean, after all, I’m an emotions therapist 😉
But keeping up with world events these days – even in the most modest of terms, is like throwing a grenade into a garbage can, only it’s my brain that’s exploding.
So YES, we must have a way out of it without getting stoned, drunk or being pulled into a spiral scroll (my variation on doom scroll, only worse).
Tonglen is one of the practices I return to when I feel overwhelmed by suffering, whether it’s close to home or happening across the world. It’s a simple Tibetan Buddhist practice that’s a simple way to stay open without going under.
It helps you stay open-hearted without getting taken out. This is especially important for the sensitive ones among us!
If you’ve been feeling heavy, raw, or emotionally overloaded by what’s happening in the world, I invite you to try this short Tonglen practice. And if you know someone who feels everything, please share it with them.
A Gentle Practice to Ease Stress and Anxiety
This practice doesn’t require you to fix the world or even fix yourself. It simply invites you to breathe, to stay open, and to gently ease stress and anxiety one moment at a time.
Here’s the closest thing to magic I know
I wish I had some quick magical solution for waving a wand and saying, “Be gone!” But I can give you the next best thing – and that is an invitation to my complimentary online Elevation Ceremony this Sunday.
Gathering together in ceremony is one of the most profound ways I know to ease stress and anxiety. There’s something about being in community, doing this work alongside others, that amplifies the healing in ways that solo practice simply can’t touch.
A day or two before we gather I’ll send you information on how to prepare for our time together. Cannabis can be included in your experience but please know that you can do this powerful work without any plant medicine at all.
All you need to do now is sign up here to secure your spot.
With Love,
Becca
